Abbot of Tianning Temple - Song Chun
In 1935, Song Chun took refuge with Shou Heng at Baoshe Temple in Dongtai County, Jiangsu Province. In 1946, he received complete precepts at Longchang Temple of Baohua Mountain in Jurong County, Jiangsu Province. Between 1956 and 1958, secretary-general of management committee, Tianning Temple after completing his further study at Buddhist Academy of China in Beijing. During the "Cultural Revolution", he left the temple. In 1980,back to the Tianning Temple for management and repairing. In October of that same year, he was secretary-general of Buddhist Association of Changzhou, and in 1985, vice chairman; in 1986, acting abbot of Tianning Temple. In 1988, chairman of Buddhist Association of Changzhou, director of Buddhist Association of China, executive director of Buddhist Association of Jiangsu; in November of 1990, abbot of Tianning Temple. Song Chun successively held the positions as CPPCC member and standing committee member; in 1993, member of the Seventh CPPCC Jiangsu Committee; in June of 1994, vice chairman of Buddhist Association of Jiangsu; in March of 1995, president of Tianning Buddhist Academy of Jiangsu; in October of 1996, abbot of Guangfu Temple of Junshan Mountain in Jiangyin; in April of 1997, abbot of Miaofa Temple in Sindian City, Taipei County, Taiwan; in September of 1998, vice chairman of Changzhou1 Overseas Sodality; in December of 1998, abbot of Guanyin Temple in New York, U.S.
